Unethical letterboxing practices

From: Jay Drew (drewclan@aol.com) | Date: 2000-09-12 15:46:27 UTC
I'm sorry to have to report a case of unprincipled heiniosity in the
local letterboxing scene. It seems that a certain Jay Drew has
a "thing" for collecting hand-cut stamp images carved by The Orient
Express, Tom Cooch of VT. Tom's stamps are well known for their craft
and appeal: they have a woodblock print quality that is wonderful to
see. So this unscrupulous letterboxer from the Drewclan had heard
that Tom planted a hitchhiker letterbox in CT named Firebolt, and he
even knew from the website that Melissa and Dan had found it and that
they may have shared it with some other folks they met on the trail
that day. He started scheming. He plotted and he planned. He wanted
to weasel the next location out of Melissa so that he could go find
it. He thought about that stamp and how he could get hold of it while
he mowed the lawn, while he ran, at work, even in bed before falling
asleep. He was obsessed. He coveted his neighbors' stamp. He really
wanted to find it and he was willing to do anything to get it.

But then, following unknowingly in Melissa and Dan's footsteps, he
found it the legal way. Maybe all those vibes led him to it. And it's
everything he hoped it would be! Wonder where the Firebolt will go
next?

Hmm. Isn't that interesting. I also have a report of unethical letterboxing
practices. A certain Melissa and Dan happened to see a certain e-mail
saying that the Drew clan was planning to find letterboxes in Mansfield over
the weekend. The two letterboxers decided to go there too. Upon arrival
they noticed that the Drew clan had not yet stamped in. They thought that
perhaps they should leave the Firebolt there just in case they should stop
by. We hope the Drew clan will ride the Firebolt carefully, and enjoy an
exciting game of Quidditch on it before it moves on.
